Knowledge sources

Choose a source

In Sources → Add knowledge source, choose a type, enter a name and location, then add it. You can use a website or sitemap URL, upload a PDF, or connect a Notion page or GitHub repository. Only enter credentials in the password field inside CommuneAI; never put a token in a URL, screenshot, or support message.

  • Website: paste the public website or sitemap URL. Pages that require a separate login may not be readable.
  • PDF: choose the PDF tab, name the source, and upload the file. PDFs use manual synchronization.
  • Notion: paste the page URL and an internal connection API token with access to that page. See the Notion setup guide.
  • GitHub: paste the repository URL and a personal access token that can read its contents. See the GitHub setup guide.

After adding a source

After adding a new source, check its sync status. If syncing has not started automatically, click Sync on that source. Wait until the sync completes before testing questions about its content.

New sources keep answer references private. A workspace owner can open Edit on a source to enable public answer references. Only enable this for material you intend to show publicly.

See Syncing and source health for status and retry guidance.
